“New Babe Toyosaki” where you can enjoy Tonkatsu, the full flavor of Japnanese pork in near Umeda, Osaka.

The pork cutlet is served in many countries, but have you ever had Japanese pork cutlets, Tonkatsu?

If you have ever had tonkatsu in Japan, you should try this restaurant for a higher level of tonkatsu.

Tonkatsu of Fillet(left)and loin (right)

But if not yet, you should go to an ordinary tonkatsu restaurant right away in Japan.

Because you will find that this restaurant is an upper level than the ordinary one.

Which station is Toyosaki near?

Ah, that's near the Nakatsu Station (M15) on the Osaka Metro in Midosuji Line.

We hope this blog helps you as you consider going to this restaurant.

You can watch the restaurant YouTube in below.

It is a very good restaurant to eat Tonkatsu.

Yes!
You can eat more thicker Tonkatsu!

Sounds good!

The restaurant was also highly rated on Japan's the biggest restaurant review site.

Half set, 2800 yen(Tax included)

It is not cheaper than an ordinary tonkatsu restaurant, but I do recommend going there to try it.

Entering the resraurant!

I arrived when the restaurant was opened and there were about 6-8 people waiting ahead of me.

The persons are almost foreign tourists!

The restaurant is popular for them, isn't it!

The restaurant outside

The waiting system is to write your name on the notebook in front of the restaurant, but it looked like the restaurant was not full at the time so I decided to go inside.

暖簾

Because I knew the restaurant had 15 seats, so I needed not to wait.

Inside the restaurant!

The restaurant had one semi-private room that could seat four persons, a counter, and a large table.

The restaurant has an open kitchen, and the atmosphere is bright and cheerful with jazz music playing.

I was shown to the counter.

Cautions!

At first, the restaurant clerk asked me to read the notice before ordering.

In the notice,

  • It takes 15 to 20 minutes for the waiting time because it is fried slowly at a low pitch.
  • The pork is reddish, but can be eaten without any problems.

I could agree with all in the notice, and I ordered the Tonkatsu

Ordering the Tonkatsu!

I really wanted to compare the top loin and loin of brand-name pork, but they were not doing it that day, so I ordered with the regular menu.

Menu

I ordered the "Half set" so I wanted to eat both the fillet and the loin.

While waiting for 20 minutes, I had seen staffs behavior were courteous and the chef was carefully frying each piece of pork.

Preparations for Tonkatsu!

First, the dressing, tonkatsu sauce and broth pot were arrived.

From left side , broth pot, the dressing and tonkatsu sauce (a little bottle)

Some persons mistook the broth pot for cold water, so be careful.

I see...

I looked around at the people, but not many were eating with tonkatsu sauce.

Rice and Miso soup has been arrived!

Then, rice and miso soup has been arrived!

Rice, cabbage, and miso soup can each be refilled once for free.

Good!

You can choose either lettuce or cabbage as a vegetable to accompany your tonkatsu.

But just cabbage for Tonkatsu!

I do!

But next time I come to this restaurant, I'll try ordering lettuce as well.

The dish for Tonkatsu with condiments

The condiments, from the left, are "Akegarashi": a spicy mustard with miso, "fresh wasabi" from Shizuoka Pref, "mustard" that goes well with the loin, and Right up side is fully sun-dried salt from the Basque of Spain.

In this restaurant, we enjoy tonkatsu with condiments instead of tonkatsu sauce.

Yes, exactlly!

The condiments are really elaborate!
we can taste them!

So, you can also have a refill of the condiments.

Enjoy Tonkatsu!

Freshly fried fillet and roin were arrived after 20 minutes!

Thick Tonkatsu!

I was really drooling.

The pork fat was shiny and glistening.

Great!!

I enjoyed Tonkatsu!

Half set

Fillet

It looks so delicious…

Fillet

First, I started to enjoy at my favorite fillet Tonkatsu with “Akegarashi”.

The fillet Tpnkatsu was lean and had the original flavor of pork.

The best was the fillet with wasabi for me.

I see..

Good meat goes well with fresh wasabi.

So the fillet Tonkatsu is not overcooked and very tender.

Sounds good!

With each bite, the juices spread into my mouth.

When you eat this, you feel happiness in Japan.

Hahaha!!
Overreacting!

That's not surprising, as there were many foreign tourists in the restaurant who came for this.

Even with Basque salt, the natural flavor of the meat was enhanced!

Yes!

If you want to enjoy the original flavor of the fillet, I recommend “Basque salt” or “fresh wasabi”.

Loin!

Tonkatsu will make me image loin!

ロース

At first, I had it without any condiments, but this loin was an exquisite piece with incredibly delicious fat.

The bread crumb of Tonkatsu is thin and the thickness of the loin is pleasantly chewy♪

So you can feel the flavor and sweetness of the real pork meat.

Oh!!

I do loved loin tonkatsu and the fatty goodness really made me happy.

I recommend eating the loin Tonkatsu with “Akegarashi, mastard with miso” or “tonkatsu sauce”.

I see..

This restaurant's style of Tonkatsu is to savor the flavor of the pork, not the crispy batter.

Oh, the pork is so good!

Hahaha!

Rice!

Rice is essential to tonkatsu!

The rice was delicious and I had to have another large serving.

I'm glad I skipped breakfast for this large second rice.

Hahaha..
You are great!

Many people, including women, enjoyed themselves with second helpings of rice.

Cabbage

They also provide such a large amount of cabbage!

Cabbage refreshes the fat inTonkatsu .

The shredded cabbage was also fresh and delicious.

I'm getting hungry just looking at it.

Rice soaked in broth with meat miso condiments

Chef even prepared a pot of broth for "Ochazuke", rice soaked in broth.

So, l enjoyed it at the end of the meal.

Meat miso, condiments in a small dish

Meat miso!
It looks delicious.

It went well with Ochazuke.

I was full!!

Sweets!

I spent a blissful time with a mango sorbet.

Mango sorbet

Mango sorbet moistened my mouth and relaxed my holiday.

Mango sorbet!!
Great!!

Gochiso-sama!(Thank you for the meal in Japanese)

Even though I skipped breakfast, I was full.

I also had more pork miso soup.

Gochiso-sama!

Who can enjoy this restaurant and who not?

This is my just personal opinion.

Who can enjoy this restaurant?

That is, those who want to fully enjoy good pork.

GOOD!!

This restaurant offers the original delicious way to eat pork.

Who not?

It is the person who wants to enjoy “tonkatsu” with crispy batter.

Thin batter fo Tonkatsu!

This restaurant does not serve so-called “tonkatsu,” which is a harmony of crispy batter, pork, and tonkatsu sauce.

I am not saying it is good or bad.

Hahaha!

If you want to eat so-called “Tonkatsu” , I think you should go to a different ordinaly Tonkatsu restaurant.

But the pork here is delicious beyond your imagination.

I see!

So I do recommend going this restaurant!

Thank you for reading to the end.
