"Sakae-sushi", not expensive but authentic sushi restaurant in Sen-nichimae, Osaka!

Ryoko and I went to the sushi restaurant, "Sakae-sushi" which we highly recommend.
Yes, it's a nice sushi restaurant.
This restaurant is so good that we went a second time.
I love chef's course of seven pieces of sushi.(at least seven)
You can taste authentic sushi, but I understand you might be anxious because it´s the chef's choice.

What kind of restaurant is Sakae-sushi?
It's a sushi restaurant for the masses.
And it's a restaurant that you can easily enter.
The prices are reasonable, and you can eat delicious sushi.

But I think many local people, including us, order the chef's course.
This is because it features sushi at its best season.

We enjoyed jellied fish, winter melon, pumpkin, and simmered tuna with Japanese white onions while waiting for the sushi.

Chef's choice sushi!
While we were eating the appetizer, we were served two pieces of sushi.
Striped Horse Mackerel and Seki Mackerel
"Seki" refers to the place of origin.
They are standard sushi of the chef.
Yes! The same sushi was served first last time als well.
Striped horse mackerel sushi has a richer taste that is more elegant than horse mackerel.
Chef's striped horse mackerel is cut thick and crunchy.
Yeah! I wanted to eat this sushi.
The Seki mackerel sushi was tasty with the freshness and fatty flavor of mackerel.

Pike conger and boiled conger eel
In Osaka, we often eat pike conger from June to July, which is the best season.
I've never had pike conger on sushi.
That's right.
It's a seasonal sushi and we can only eat on June and July.
First, we ate pike conger sushi(left).
The pike conger has many small bones that make it difficult to eat, but the chef's technic makes it easy.
The pike conger sushi is not on the restaurant's menu, so only those who take chef's course can enjoy this stuff.
Ah, this plum paste and cold pike conger go so well together that it's delicious.
This pike conger might be the best sushi I've ever tasted!
It was the chef's pike sushi that wowed Ryoko.
We tried the boiled conger eel(right).
Even though conger eel is so fresh, it tastes fishy and not good when raw.
Ah… boiled conger eel sushi is warm, sweet and delicious.
I enjoyed the difference of coldness of the pike conger and the warmness of the boiled conger eel.
And tasted sushi the big differences between the sourness of the plum paste and the sweetness of the sauce.
We enjoyed the best different combination sushi from the chef.
Mantis shrimp with eggs and muscle of flounder
The two pieces of sushi were served.
I don't order mantis shrimp with eggs myself, but I gave it a try.
I like the unique texture and flavor of the mantis shrimp with eggs.
But I like shrimp better.
I refreshed my mouth with ginger and ate muscle of flounder.
The muscle of flounderare flavored with lemon.
Each bite brings a mouthful of deliciousness.
Yeah. It's a very tasty.
The muscle of flounder was a sushi with an enjoyable texture.
Soft and chewy sushi of swordtip squid
Soft squid sushi (right) and chewy squid sushi(left) are shown in the movie.
The squid taste varies depending on the texture.
The chewy part of squid is shown in the red arrow.
Soft squid sushi is slightly sweet.
But the chewy squid sushi are firm with lemon flavors.
We could taste the difference in texture and taste of the same squid.
The chef is smart.
Yeah, I'm sure it's great.
It's amazing how he serve the same squid in different flavors.
The chef's course ended when we were talking about such things.
The chef asked us to continue the course, but we chose to eat sushi we wanted.
I want to eat more, but what a kind of sushi do you want?
Hmmm…. Tuna.
The prices of tuna and fatty tuna were not very different, so I ordered the fatty tuna.
Fatty tuna (an expensive cut)
We seated at the counter where we could see the chef preparing the fatty tuna, so we shot a video.
The fat of fatty tuna was amazing.
The chef used two types of wasabi in fatty tuna.
The one on top of sushi is a non-spicy to refresh the fat.
And the another is inside and regular spicy wasabi.
We ate the fatty tuna at the same time.
It's so good!
Yeah, it melted in my mouth!
So, it was not too greasy, and the flavor of fatty tuna spreaded in my mouth.
In the video, the chef cut out the greasy parts of fatty tuna!
Yeah. This is the best sushi I've ever had.
We were smilling and satisfied.
How much did the bill cost us?
We drank four mugs of draft beer and ate two chef's course and additional sushi for about 12,000 yen(80$ USD).
The price is reasonable as the chef's course sushi.
Yeah, definitely!
I would like to order next time because totally different sushi were not so much served in this time.
I will order the halfbeak sushi in this restaurant in next!
